Help w/ BM Blade wobble/alignment

I KNOW that in BF somewhere there was an explanation on how to adjust the blade alignment on BenchMades. I just can't search.

My 690 started a little off center and is now starting to "hit" the inside of the liner.

Almost ditto on the 710HS I rec'd a couple of days back. Additionally, this blade is starting a wobble.

I have a driver that fits. Is this something I can adjust, or do I need to ship them back to BM?

A love both of these and this is the ONLY complaint I have, and I'd just as soon not go without if possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated.:(

I emailed the Fixit department at BM about this, because it was happening to my BM Stryker... it was hitting the inside liner (and still is, tho now that i put white lightning it seems to have subsided???? doesn't really make sense.. maybe i tightened it too) The arranty dept. told me to send the knife in, after i described the problem to them... i also saw someone mention that BM doesn't do warranty repairs unless there is a receipt.. i lost the receipt for mine, and they still offered to fix it for me for free.. so im not sure which information is correct as i never sent mine in.

If all it requires is a simple pivot-screw adjustment, I don't see that as a warranty situation. It's normal maintenance. Just back the pivot screw out, clean the threads completely, use a bit of blue LocTite and tighten it down until it feels good to you.

If it's a more serious situation, then it has it go back to BM.

Agree with knifenerd. Just unscrew the pivot and clean. Smear some loctite Red bottle 234 Threadlocker onto the screw. Screw in tight and back out 1/4 turn. Try the opening and closing. Try to wobble the blade. If too tight or too loose, loosen or tighten 1/8 turn until nice.

HTH.

With the blade open push against the flat of the blade and TOWARD the side that the blade is hitting , or too close to. Close and check alignment. You may have to tighten the pivot a bit. If the pivot is already tightened check the action as this procedure usually loosens up the pivot a little bit. You can go ahead and apply loctite before you do this as it takes a bit for it to set up. Good luck.
