The one in the first pic is an original Vulture. You can tell by the row of single 2"/1" webbing on the side. The current model as several rows of MOLLE like so...
It's probably 5 to 10 years old. Probably doesn't have the rubberized (Slip-Not) bottom either that the current one has. There are a few trade offs with the old ones but quality isn't one of them. The older packs and bags are built like absolute tanks. I'm not saying the current ones are nice... but the older ones were a little more bomb proof. If you have the chance to buy it for a good price... I'd get it if I were you.
