Greetings all, great forum. Can someone explain how to achieve the "dimpled" bolster effect that I've noticed on alot of the owner customized folders. I'd like to try it on my Buck Trapper. Is this do-able with very basic tools ? Also the knife is assembled. Any help is greatly appreciated ,Thanks.

I have read that some folks use a Dremel to get that effect , I'm not sure which attatchment you would use , someone else can chime in on this.
Caution if the knife is still assembled though.

Welcome to BF :)

My guess would be carbide burr with a rotary tool. That or they are given a hammer peened effect through multiple small blows with a small ballpeen hammer.

Post a pic and we can tell for sure.

The bolsters are usually stippled using a diamond burr in a rotary tool (Dremel).Different sizes of burrs give different effect (course - big burs approx 2.5 mm and fine - small burrs 1.5 mm ). Knife must be taped up well in case of slipping. Work slowly with light pressure. An extention cable on the rotary tool works best. A little practice and you quickly get the feel of it.
Hope this makes sense.
Greetings
Neels :D
