Hallo
I have a problem with soldering D-2 steel.
In the past I used O-1 and never had a problem.
Now I’m using D-2 and can’t get it right.
I have tried different soldering fluids.
I normally use silver tin (resist 2) with S39 (soldering fluid).
Now I have bought S39 –RVS but this also doesn’t work…
The next blade I’m making is 440 do I get the same problem???

Can you tell me what is wrong or what you use???
I’m going in September to Calgary / Vancouver / Yellowstone (and some more states) so if you have an address for me where to get it….

Thanks, and keep counting you fingers ;-))))))

I don't know what heat source you use, but I would recommend trying a heat gun. A bit slow, but it gives much better temperature control and more uniform temp in my opinion.

Go with the recommended solder too.

Works for me.

Watch out for the bears in Yellowstone!! One broke the window of our car while we were out hiking and ripped through everything in the cooler. Left one heck of a mess and not much food. (Always pay for rental cars with American Express...)

Other than that, we had a great time!!
