Was this worth six months wait and a some dough? Beyond the fact I used a vintage Norlund Genuine axe head as the foundation; would you consider this to be a professionally done modification into a Nordic Sandi axe with a Bearded axe used as an example? From a bladesmith?

I did say not to destroy the 'Genuine Norlund' stamps when rounding the poll for skinning.

I thinks it looks cool albeit a bit rough. It depends on how much you paid for the modification and whether the six month wait was expected. It sounds like you're not really happy with the work, in which case I would contact the maker and give him an opportunity to make it right. In a timely manner of course.

Looks like an hours work, for an amateur.
Not everyone is blessed with a good eye, nor the conviction to modify something in a spur of the moment. So what if it took 6 months; the end result is going to outlive him!

6 months does seem like a long wait, but if it's what you wanted, then yes, it's worth it. I like the new shape, wouldn't mind seeing it again hafted.

I think you are the only one that can answer those questions. I can't really see much in the "after" pictures and don't know what the work cost. All the answers would depend on the owner. Some lucky folks can afford to spend and if they got it back too soon would feel cheated.

I do many axes changed from standard models, is not a lot of work but may go wrong, but I do not understand what you wanted to get, because the result is not very different from what you have now.
Normally is a 6-8 hour job to change shape by forging and apply the final finishing and heat treatment.
Here are some examples - the standard model from which I started the forging process is like the one you get in the end.
And the results are like

And a larger one

A different one

Medium size

And a big one

They are all made from the same standard type of axe.
My opinion is that it was not worth the wait and the money. :(

If you sent him a bearded axe as an example, I don't see much of a beard in the finished product.
