I need some help wiring my new motor. I cant find any documentation on this thing(I've been googling for about an hour).

the Brown van just dropped of my new motor I got a great deal on. Since I'm broke Id rather be safe than sorry and not try to interpret the wiring schematic myself.

I want this thing to run on 110. What wires go to hot, ground and neutral?

My guess would be:
1,8,3= hot
4=ground
2,5,j=neutral

pics in one sec.

You're right in looking at the low voltage diagram.

2,5,J bundled together but not connected to any wire on the plug.

1, 3, 8 together on Line1
4 on line 2
Green Ground to the green screw mounted to the motor frame.

I don' think it really matters which line 1, or 2, you make Hot or neutral.

Polarity doesn't make a difference.

If you find it spinning the wrong direciton when hooked up

1-3-8-hot
4-neutral
2-5-J

Then wire it up 1-3-5-hot
4-neutral
2-8-J

You should be all set.

Thanks for the replys. I got it hooked up and running. This motor is way bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Induction motors are fairly large, universal and permanent magnet motors are much smaller.

Your next step will be a 1.5-2HP 3Ph with a VFD for variable speed on a 2x72 grinder. :p
