Hi folks, I'm new here and right off I need help identifying a couple of knives. I would like to get general ID information on these as well as an estimated or approx value it it's possible.

I have attached a link to a picture, I hope that's ok.

The first one is a Kukri, marked only with "India", the handle appears to be bone or horn, the sheath is wood, covered by a thin skin, hand sewn with hashing or checkering on the front. The knob on the end of the handle is a lion. The right side of the blads shown is ingraved with some "decoration", and the "India: is stamped at the base of the blade on the other.

The second piece is has a brass and wood handle, and it appears that something was rivited on the center of the handle, but is missing now. There is a number on the base of the blade, but it's non ledgible. It has 2 fullers on each side of the blade. It appears to be a quality made piece.

There are some markings on this one, a stamping of a king with a crown, a knight's helment, and W.K & C

All assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mosko'

Mosko,

W.K&C stands for Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie, one of the most important manufacturers of military cutlery in Solingen. They are still working.

Maybe they can tell you what this knife is. I haven´t seen it up to now. But to me it looks like a dress dagger, made for export to a non-german army. Or maybe it was a former sabre or épée, converted to a dagger in a WWI trench. This sort is called "theater weapon" and sought after by collectors.

If you recieve an answer from WKC, please don´t forget to post it here in this forum. We all are keen on learning. Or point WKC to this forum.
