Help with a 119 I picked up Yesterday

I'm guessing 1968 or 1969. Can you show the back of the sheath? Is there a model number on the belt loop? Is the belt loop rivet concave?

If the model number is on the belt loop and the belt loop rivet is concave, it should be a 1968 knife.

Presuming it is the original sheath and not a replacement.

Forgive me, please, Bert, but I can't see dating a knife by the sheath. Sheaths get changed quite often over the years.

If the sheath is as you say, all that does is date the sheath, not necessarily the knife.

I'll shut up now. Please forgive my indiscretion for "speaking"/writing/responding.

I can't argue with that, but what we are looking at is trying to decide between 1968 and 1969 and the sheath does give some "circumstantial" evidence. In addition, it probably isn't really important to pin it down to one of those two years. It is either 1968 or 1969.

My weak defense is I said "should" not "is" a 1968 knife.

That is not the 1968 sheath. So, assuming that is the original sheath for the knife in question, I would say probably 1969.
 
Thanks Dave! So it looks like I have a 119 from 67/68. Bertl gave some great info on the sheath and it appears that my knife may be a 67 based on the sheath? Not sure if we can really pinpoint this one.

gonna send it off to the spa here shortly!
