Help with a handle question!!

I have been tinkering with the idea of using antler buttons much like leather washers to make a "stacked" handle on a small neck knife. I have made a lot of knives just by sinking the blade into the antler the traditional way, but I was wanting to try something new. Wondered if anyone else has tried this. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.
 
I don't see why you couldn't, even after shaping there would be a lot of texture for grip. I would imagine you would have to pin each layer to keep them from moving.
 
I have used both bone and antler as spacers in thru tang knives. Just try to make the hole for the tang as small as possible, and use plenty of epoxy.

I usually put on a butt plate and peen the tang over as well, for a good, tight fit.
