Help with a handle

I have a True Temper Connecticut head that I am having trouble finding a handle for. The eye measures 2 and 3/4 inches at the bottom and 2 and 5/8 at the bottom of the eye. I have a house handle for it, but the handle leaves about a quarter inch gap at the front of the eye which keeps the head from staying tight. Can anyone point me in the direction of a handle that will be a tighter fit or some technique that will keep the head on?
 
Tennessee Hickory Products sells handles that are on the fat side and typically have plenty of extra wood for the eye. The problem with some axes is that the top of the eye can be longer than the eye is in the center. You're forced to shorten the tongue of the haft just to fit it. What we do then is just size the wedge to the full length of the top of the eye but tapered to fit down into the eye. I actually pre-fit my wedges to the eye before final assembly.
