I purchased a BK-9 Blank, with the hopes preparing and presenting it to my best friend as a gift to introduce him to bushcraft and the Becker fan club. My friend is returning from deployment in the very near future, and I have shelved the project due to a lack of funds and time. So I come to you Beckerheads/experts looking for advice and possibly a bit of help getting this ready. What I need is a quality edge put on, as well as a custom kydex sheath, and a set of scales. I know this is a tall order but I am open to advice and/or the possibility of sending this to someone to work on (with compensation, of course). Please :dread: help me build a quality system for my friend. Thanks.

I'm sorry I can't help ya, but look for Godspeed for the kydex. Good luck bud!!

Hey Tin Can.....

Is the blank Ground and unsharpened or is it just an unhardened blank ?.....

All Best...

one of these years, i'll get a set of unground blanks for fun...

Hey tin, it'd maybe help us if we knew exactly what you have. A quick description and a few pix would go a long way.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have to pull it out of the corner and dust it off to get some pics up. If memory serves me, it's just needs an edge put on it. I'll try to get some pics up by next weekend, but I'm not promising much.

Hang on a second, where are you all getting these blanks from? I'd kill for some becker blanks!

M.W.T.I.C,

Thanks for the recommendation bro! '

If this were mine I'd send the blank off to Haze as soon as possible and have him work his magic on it. I just got the Haze modified 9 and I can't believe the edge it's still got.... I know it's a marriage of Ethan's black magic and Haze's reprofile but I'm really impressed with it. And the parked finish is a nice touch too.

And then I'd send it to Godspeed for Kydex:D

I'd also like to see what you've got there.

If anyone's still watching this thread I finally got the knife and have some pictures of the blade. Not the best of cameras, but hopefully all you pros can get what you need from them. Again, thanks for looking!

Is that painted black or is it just me? Hell all you need are some scales and a sheath huh? That should be easy enough!!

Looks to be time to buy a sheath.....Get that puppy sharp and have at it......

All Best.....

Looks Like it needs just the final sharpening and some Scales. Micarta will cost you $40 + shipping. Contact ImagineFJ over on the esee forums, he's a Beckerhead but doesn't come around here much. He's done some edge grinding work relatively inexpensively for me.

Thanks for the tips. Decided I would spend a few hours with my stones and some bourbon to get this puppy sharp. I am by no means an expert, but I'm glad I gave it a try...got some really good lessons learned as this is my first from dull sharpen. I might post pictures as the project continues. Thanks again for helping!
