I have a very nice Camillus Marine Fighting Knife. I bought 8 years or so ago and finally figured a knife is meant to be used not sit in a safe looking pretty. I was packing for a camping trip and noticed some movement in handle. I did my research, bought bee's wax. I applied melted bee's wax to the knife and placed in the oven that was at 170. Turned off the oven and left the wax soak in... Looked geat, but the handle is worse. I think the oven dried it out more. Maybe I should have used a blow drier. I was going to use Lexol oil conditioner but it is a softener? My thoughts are to warm the knife, use Lexol leather cleaner and then apply the conditioner and let it soak in. Then re-apply the bee's wax using a blow dryer.
Am I over thinking it? Am I over worried about the conditioner softening the leather? Or just apply more bee's wax?
I appreciate your help.
