Hey forum friends I would like your input on a a new EDC purchase.
This is a knife will be what I carry in the office or whenever I'm
looking for a smaller blade.

I'm looking at the:
- Cold Steel Small AK-47 (I like the shape of the blade and handle, love the Tri-ad lock, wish CS made some blades in the USA).
- Spyderco Delica 4 FFG (Love Spyderco knives, but oddly enough I don't own any at the moment. I like the ergonomics.
don't like the blade wiggle that comes with Spyderco blades though).
- Benchmade Mini Griptillian (Great company, great design I own the full size Mel Pardue version, a bit expensive, don't want D2 or 440C).

Don't want to go on and on. I would love to know what you think.

Thanks

If it's going to the office with you, you may want to reconsider the CS AK-47. I'm not saying that all of your coworkers are sheeple, but it only takes one person doing the "Oh my God, he's got a knife!" to get you sitting down in the security office!

Bad day.

Spyderco makes a couple linerlocks. The Sage 2 is a possibility, and linerlocks shouldn't wobble.
Benchmade makes the mini-grip with several blade shapes and handle colors. As long as you avoid black, you should be fine.
CRKT makes a few little knives in sheeple friendly colors, too.

If you don't own a Spyderco get the Delica. I didn't own a Spydie until the late 90's - now I very rarely buy any other brand.

Blade wiggle on a Spyderco? Are you sure you did not mean to apply that description to Benchmade? I've owned many, many Spyderco and not once do I recall any blade play(or any significant issues for that matter). I have also owned a lot of BM's and recently decided I am done with them. Blade play with BM is common from my experience. I would strongly recommend Spyderco.

If I was going to get a CS knife, I'd go for a Voyager. I'd get the Para 2 instead of the Delica. Griptilians are solid knives as well. Get the one that calls to you most (although I'd go for the Delica or the Grip over the CS AK-47 any day).

I like Cold Steel, but I think the Mini AK-47 is overbuilt for the office. Between the Delica and the Mini Grip, you can't go wrong. The Delica will likely be more affordable if price is an issue or you might prefer the AXIS lock. But either one is an easy office carry.

Check out the kershaw skyline. I rate it as one of the top discreet knifes I have ever used. as far as the rest go, I don't think you can go wrong with anything from spyderco or benchmade.

I would also say look into the Kershaw OD1. I feel its a pretty decent office style knife.

I've been looking in to knives for that style of carry as well (Business Casual is my normal office dress), although my budget is a bit lower. You might take a look at some of the Boker plus line (G-10 Elegance is kinda william henry esque), The Buck Lux, Buck Vantage small, or the SS CRKT Drifter.

Good luck

I too work in an office environment. Although I've had no problems carrying my Delica 4 on occasion (one of my all-time favourite EDCs, btw) I find that my Sage 1 carries a little nicer due to the low-profile wire clip. The Dragonfly 2, Centofante 3 and Boker Plus Hyper are also good choices.

Good luck! :)

Have you looked at any non-tactical knives? It seems to be either a like-it or hate-it knife, but take a look at the Drop Point Russlock from Case. It's a liner lock & pocket friendly. They run around $45ish. I'm on the like-it side. Plus, most sheeple won't run for the hills when you use it. Sorry, I can't attach any pictures, but google works just fine.

I'm a Spyderco fan after being through most of the manufactures offereings over the years. Spyderco just offers more for less IMO. I like knives with choils so I can get in good for fine work and it makes a small knife feel bigger. The Endura and Delica don't have these and I wish they did. Look at the Dragonfly (maybe in G10), Native or UKPK series and some of the other offerings out now on the blade stores. If you can come up with $100 I'd say get the Para2 and be done. I have a mini-grip and a 707.. both are very nice for pocket carry, but I prefer them with the clips off and just in the bottom of my pocket, same with the Dragonfly. If thinking small knife.. think light. The AK will be pretty heavy I would think for what you are getting.
