my grandfather passed on, he left me his old knife and I have been trying to figure out where it came from, or any information really, it's in a box with some German writing on it, I tried to google the words on it but I couldn't figure much out, I know the knife is really old, he had it for as long as i can remember.

the only other mark on the knife is a R on the small blade towards the bottom, it's on the other side
edit:
it also says robt klaas on the bigger blade on the other side as well

It's a Kissing Crane brand knife, but I don't know how old it is.
My father gave me one similar, that is 1950's vintage if that helps. He bought it when he was stationed in Germany.

It is not a fruit knife. It is a Penknife made by Robert Klaus under the Kissing Crane brand. The sides are either stainless steel or silver (the pictures don't help).

Translation on the box is as follows:

Since 1837
Muller Brothers
Owner Klaus Welz
Knifemaker
Stuttgart
#10 Cherry Street (Kirchstrasse)

Kissing Crane is a very good brand, and collectable. Their knives were well made. This knife was purchased at a dealer's shop (as per the box).

I'd be willing to bet that the scales are stainless. I'd expect more oxidation if it were silver.

It's a really lovely little knife.

Thanks for the info guys, I feel much better having some idea where this knife came from, I talked to my mom and my grandpa did go and visit Germany when he was young, I am assuming he got it around then. I put a magnet close to the outside of the knife and it did want to stick to it, so I'm assuming it's not made out of silver
