I'll start by saying that I don't really know anything about watches. My mother (who is Taiwanese) came back from Taipei a few months ago with a watch that must have belonged to my Grandfather. It is a Rado Voyager, but other than that I don't know anything about it. I'm guessing it's from the late sixties. The backplate has two numbers stamped into it. The first is 11814/1. And right below that in a shallower stamp is 46108918.
My google-fu shows that these aren't particularly expensive/valuable watches, but I'd like to get this watch serviced/cleaned if it doesn't cost too much. To my untrained eye, it doesn't look like it needs much work. There are some small rust spots on the front bezel, some overall grime that should be easy to clean, the adjustment knob seems to be stuck, there's a missing pin in one of the bracelet links, and there's some light scratches that can probably be polished out.
Three things that I'm not sure would be easy to fix are as follows. The date/day indicator doesn't seem to be working even though the watch hands are moving. The glass face has some scuffs and scratches that I'd like if they could be polished out. And the bracelet is a little small for me, so finding a couple more links that match the bracelet might be difficult.
My question is where do I get it serviced? Do I just take it to a jewelry store? Do I have to find a dedicated watch repair shop (google finds no results in my area)? Or should I contact Rado and send it to them (would that even work with such an old model)? Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!
