Hi all I have been making alumilite blocks to cut into knife scales. I cut some with my portaband and it made a rediculous mess. I mean the stuff went everywhere and I spent a good while cleaning the bandsaw. Maybe the metal saw is too slow would a regular wood working bandsaw work better? I have a cheap table saw but it isn’t working right and is cutting at a slight angle and I can’t seem to get the blade to 90 degrees. Now I am trying to decide what type of saw to cut this stuff with. Any input would be great thanks!!

If you mean all the spiderweb-like fuzz, does the same on my wood bandsaw. Im sure it will on a table saw as well

Ok I’ll do a compare and contrast between the two to see which is more of a mess. I like the bandsaw as it wastes less material due to blade thickness. If they are the same then I’ll stick with the bandsaw. However looking at all the videos of people cutting alumilite on table saw it looks a lot cleaner. They could have some kind of dust collection set up though so we will see.
Thanks for reply!

Thanks for the recommendation! After a piece of alumilite went flying as I was cutting it I have decided to forgo the table saw and returned it. That was actually kind of scary. The table saw also made a mess when cutting the alumilite worse the the bandsaw.
I picked up the little Rockwell x2 thing let’s see how that does with some bimetal blades.

What about going back to basic and use a hand tool? I've been using a Japanese pull saw to cut my blocks into scales lately. Tiny kerf (biggest reason), less mess, and less noise.
