Help with an eraser..

I have this rubbery gray eraser someone sent me on the forums. I recall him mentioning something about sharpmaker rods. But I dont recall who the member is.
Do I use it dry or wet?

You can just use it dry, it will remove most of the metal deposited by sharpening from the Sharpmaker sticks as well as natural sharpening stones.
It can also come in handy for removing certain spots on metal and to soften up sharp edges on knife handles.
