We recently found an axe head stamped “INDIA CO 687” but I can’t find any information on the internet. The 2nd item we found is an wood shake shingle hammer/hatchet that was forged in the early 1900s Kelly Ax & Tool Co, Kelly Vanadium, Charleston, WV USA
I have photos of both but haven’t figured out how to upload them.
Thanks in advance

That Kelly would have been a half hatchet FYI, a shingle hatchet is quite a different looking tool.
Unfortunately someone had modified it, cur off the hammer head & ground off the v in the curve. All I had to go by was the stamp.

Okay, that makes perfect sense.
At least you weren't the one who modified it like that.
No, we value antiques, I have remnants of cap guns, buttons, and a revolver that are all over 100 years old. My husband did fix the damage previously done, cleaned it up sharpened it and is now trying to find a handle for it. He’ll use it some & put it up for one of the grandkids.
