Can anyone help ID this Hudson Bay axe, I think it may be German? Thanks, Matt

I thought this might be a tough ID, the markings are not real clear. The first mark looks like "800" which is probably the grams of the axe and the second mark looks to be "TGL", which you find on a lot of German axes. The last two markings I have no clue what the symbols are.

A few more pics of the head and profile (and overall axe) would probably help a few of the gurus here. Maybe a pic of the stamp a little more zoomed out, too.

I weighed the axe head and it weighs 1lb 10oz, plus or minus an ounce or two (I used kitchen scale). I bought this head at an antique mall, probably paid more than I should but I have been looking for a hudson bay pattern in this weight range for awhile, $25. I plan on rehanging and using for wedge pounding and cutting small branches and brush when I am out cutting firewood. Here are some more pics:

It's evidently from the former East Germany (GDR), where the TGL stamp was similar to the DIN stamp of West Germany (with one difference being that the TGL standards were mandatory, not voluntary). These standards were used between 1955 and 1990.

TGL stands for
Technische Normen, Gütevorschriften und Lieferbedingungen
which translates to
Technical standards, quality standards and delivery

Dude your search foo is awesome and appreciated.
