Help understanding some of the language. Wtb= wanting to buy. What does bump mean, WIB things like that? Hello would be appreciated, thank you!

Hello.

Here are a few that I know of:
NIB = New In Box
LNIB = Like New In Box
NIT = New In Tube
LNIT = Like New In Tube
CONUS = Continental United States
G&S = Good & Services
F&F = Friends & Family
BUMP = Bumping a thread to the top of the first page.
SPF = Sold Pending Funds
NOS = New Old Stock
PM = Private Message
BF = Bladeforums
SS = Stainless Steel
OAL = Overall Length

The term "bump" is most frequently used in sales threads to bring a sales thread up to the first page. However, BF has removed that ability from the exchange forums. There were too many folks who abused it. Some folks have been known to "bump" an old conversation thread. This is frowned upon unless significant new information is being offered.

"PM" = private message. The current software calls it a "conversation".
PM's and conversations are limited to members with paid memberships.

"VM" = Visitor Message. You can go to a member's user page and leave as short note for him. The software will notify him that he has a message. These messages are not private, all users can see them if they go to that member's user page.

Recommend you read here. A lot of the rules for the entire site are actually on the rules for the exchange page. There is a link at the bottom of every page on the site.

Thank you very much for the replies. So for future reference, just in case. Instead of saying bump. If one was to change the asking price on an item. They would just make a new post or ask a moderator to update its placement?

You can edit the original post to make a price change or to note when it has been sold.

You can make a new post as well, and while it wont bump it to the top of the forum, it will register in the New Post sections and people would see it until it has been bumped down. I would suggest reserving making new posts for pertinent information such as sold, spf, still available, new price etc.

By new post, I mean a new post within your sales thread. You'll have to wait 14 days to repost (make a new thread) an item that has not sold.

As Benchwarmer said, to change the price the seller would edit the text of his post. The thread title can also be modified to show that there has been a price drop.

To edit a thread title, go to opening post in the thread. At the top right is "thread tools". Mouse over it and you get a drop down menu. From the menu, click "edit thread". That gives you a popup window from which you can edit the thread title.
