Hi Guys, just picked up a BM, I dont know the model number. It has the cheaper handles, chrome or nickel plated pot metal with the slotted holes.Four inch utility blade, high polished. The knife is in great shape, has nicks on the latch but very few on the handles.Anyway, I got this from another member, he described it as stainless steel handles, but he was wrong. No big deal, I did'nt pay too much for it and now I kind of like it.I just dont want to keep it if I over payed for it.I have never had one of the cheaper models before but this one is not bad. Thanks for any info.

Sounds like a 239. Don't worry, if you over paid, you'll have no trouble keeping it!

They are really a good entry level knife though. It's a shame that they are now discontinued because all the other models that resemble them are crap. You didn't mention a buying price so I will not be the first person to mention a selling price. Be well!

I was going to let you know what I paid for it, I just did'nt want to influence the value someone might put on it first.Give me a ballpark figure.

Well, without even seeing the knife one can't be to sure. I can tell you that it's not made of pot metal but Zamak. With nicks on the latch, the value goes down pretty fast since those aren't that uncommon. At auction, though, it might fetch $75 to $100.

They are nice knives, but will eventually fail because the fork in the handle will splay out. Being Zamak, it can't be fixed.

Thanks for the input guys, I got it for $95 shipped.I guess a little on the high side. This sure would be a great blade for some custom handles??? The quality of the blade grind and the polish job is really nice, better then the finish on several of my BM Balis. The blade is also not a weehawk, its a utility blade, shaped alot nicer than my 48 too.
Thanks
Matt

There is a gentleman here on the forums whose log-in name is "ChuckG" (not Gollnick) and he makes custom balisongs but he also does a re-handle job for International Series (which is what you have) and Jags, the handles are thick and made of Aluminum. You can find some pictures and reviews on Gollnick's site: www.balisongcollector.com

Here is a pic of it with another Philippine I am going to put up for sale.Is this 239 common with the utility blade? Does it come with other blade styles or just this one? I think its a 139 with this blade?
Thanks

The re-handle job is $175 I believe, it is in aluminum only so ya got to decide if you think it's worth it.

The 138 was the Tanto, the 139 was the WeeHawk, and the 140 is the Utility blade that you have................

Dawkind,

I think BM Zamak series only have utility and weehawk (no tanto). The tanto will be PC International series.

Yes, 139 is more like it, utilty plain skeletonized handle.

Correct me if I am wrong .
