A few years ago I bought several knives. I really didn't know anything about knives and just bought them on the spur of the moment. I still don't know anything about knives thus the question. Are either of these of any special interest? Are they still in production? Neither has been used but Smith has some handling marks. Any other info would be appriciated. Thanks.
1) J.D Smith in box with code C58BMP. Blade measures about 4" with lockback. Scales appear to be micarta. Blade markes Japan and VG-10

2) Bob Lum in box with code C46P. Blade measures about 3 3/4" with liner lock. Scales appear to be stainless. Blade marked Seki-City and ATS-55

Looks like you've got a couple of nice one's there Amvet. They have both been out of production for a while. I am not sure how long. The Smith would proabably fetch $100-150 on Ebay. The Lum is titanium over stainless liners IIRC. They can go for over $200.

Yes they are keepers for sure! Getting harder to get now.
BTW welcome to the forums .

spyderknut,
Is right on about the prices. If you sold them here, expect a little less. E-bay is top dollar. You also have to pay E-bay fees and deal with non-paying bidders and a bunch of other BS. I sell and trade here because I trust the people more that the E-bay crowd.

You have the makings of a nice little collection already so maybe you can buy a few more and really have some fun.

I keep buying Spydercos but I am not trying to collect them. I just go after all the ones that I like. There are a lot of avenues to collecting Spydercos which makes it fun. You can collect just one model like the Delica or you can go after eras or you can go after materials like micarta.

The reason I haven't gone after any one group is because I like some from all groups. There was a golden age of Spyderco IMHO which saw knives like the C54 Calypso in micarat. That knife more that all the others represents the best that Spyderco can be.

One good thing is, the golden age is not gone. The quality has not gone down and the designs are great. It is just that for a time, it was like everything they made was a classic. The new CF Military is the best Military ever from what I hear. The Calypso III is the Calypso Jr so far. There is lots to buy now and lots to look forward to.

Youve got some very nice knives on your hand there, easily worth 300 bucks plus. I know a few people who would love to have that Lum...
