Brady, I hear its been cold in west TX.. Your Buck model is one knife of a three knife kitchen/carving set named the Empress Trio model 200 . This set first appeared in the Buck catalog in 1973 with black and soon changed to maroon micarta handles like yours . It consisted of a 9" carver a 6" boning and 4"pairing knife . This maroon color micarta continued with this model to 1981 . Sometime in mid to late 80's Buck began using Birchwood handles with this set and now no walnut box or metal guard and the old English script stamping was no longer used . The knives originally came in a walnut display/storage case that could be hung in the kitchen . The MSRP then for the entire set was 60$ and Buck lost money on them . The blade steel used for this model was 440C . I have a knife like the one in your photo as well as complete sets w/ the storage box . Those are not easy to find but the entire set w/ box is worth much more . I've bought the 3 knives at shows for 80-100$ and they were used and scratched like yours . Naturally, in new condition w/ the box they fetch more . Thanks for the photo . DM

Good information DM, Thanks!

I have what must be the 6" Boning knife in maroon micarta. At first I thought it may be one of the Scout knives (106 was the model if I recall).

It is one of my flea market bargains. I sharpened it and keep it in my knife block for kitchen use. It's a NICE kitchen knife!

thanks david, thats very good information, great! yes winter can go now. enough is enough!! you know i think i may have a set of buck steak knives and another maroon colored shorter knive as well. ill post pics of them if i find them. thanks again--brady

Your welcome guys . Peter, the 106 is a axe . Brady, the steak knife set you mention is the Windsor set model 206 . It came with 6 serrated steak knives in a walnut box similiar to the Empress Trio only after (late 70's). DM

Pete, Yes, you and me both wish we had a 106 axe like that . Is your 107 stamped with the old English script w/ 'Buck usa' or w/ the model # in block style letters ? Thats a good model, light and handy . DM

David - When I first spotted it, I THOUGHT it may be a 107, but I think it is the 6" knife from one of the kitchen sets.

It is marked in "English script" Buck and U.S.A. under that. It IS a handy knife to have in the kitchen cutlery block. The blade is shaped like a filet blade, but it is a bit stiff for a filet blade.

Peter

Does it have micarta handles with a guard and is the blade about 5 3/4" long ? DM

It has the maroon micarta and looks JUST like the second picture in the original post. The guard is curved, so it is 5 3/4" inches measured from the cutting edge side, or just about 6" measured from the top of guard to tip.

well did a little digging today and found the steak knives i was thinking of but they were not buck brand, but i did find a 7 3/4 inch knife that matches the big carver in my ammo gun cleaning box---i have no idea where i got it. thanks for the replies and all the help--enjoyed visiting----brady
