Its used...I havent babied it but I have taken decent care of it...I've had it over 20 years but I hardly ever use it... The scratches are mostly from carrying in a backpack or wearing on my belt... The blade had seen very little use... I'm not good enough to sharpen it so I can't use it much...If I could get it sharp and keep it sharp I probably would consider getting rid of it but I give up... I can sharpen it but can't get a real sharp edge on it...

Can't quite tell what is stamped/engraved on the butt however, aside from that it looks like a standard 124 with rosewood scales to me.

Not sure what info you are after. Wood handles and no date code on the tang makes it about 82/83 to 85.
Check completed eBay auctions for values. There are a bunch of them. The engraving on the butt doesn't affect the value as a user but unless it's a documented factory issue probably detracts for a collector. I feel like I've seen that logo before but can't place it. New 124's with micarta handles retail for about $120.

According to the history of the 124 that Joe Houser wrote, Buck changed from micarta handles to resin impregnated Birch in Dec. of 1982 and they were listed that way in the 1983 catalog. In 1986, they added the date stamp to the three line stamp, so your knife would have been produced between those dates.
I'd say that the markings on the pommel were added later.

Wow !!! I was way off I thought it was in the 90's... I did buy it used though not sure when though...I've had it at least 20 years... I'll try to trade it for something I can use but if not I'll just keep it...seems like a good knife I just struggle sharpening it....thanks for all the info folks...I really appreciate it
