Help with Buck ID?

I am new to the forum. Came on board after inheriting a sizable knife collection. There are a few old Buck knives in it. Can anyone help me identify this particular knife. How does one go about dating a knife like this? Unfortunately, the knives were cataloged years ago, but, wouldn't you know the cataloging sheet has been lost over time.

Thanks for any assistance.

Looks like a 105 before they were marked 105. Has that characteristic bulge on top of the blade.

What is the marking on the blade?

We'll need a pic of that and the end of the pommel to see if it's pinned through sideways or from the butt.

Looks like you got some good stuff if this is an example.

That is an early one. Inverted one line.

Is there a model number stamp on the sheath anywhere?

What is the length in inches, blade and overall?

Thank you for posting the photo.

I manipulated the above photo and hosted it. My monitor shows "BUCK" only on the tang, inverted (read with point down).

However, my seeing-eye dog is out in the truck... :)

A better photo of the tang, showing the stamp, would be good.

Here are some additional photos. No model number on the sheath.

Inverted one line, bone hard fiber spacers.

Thank you for the great pics.

Bone Hard Fiber, the actual name of the red-colored material, was used as spacer material in early Buck knives. It fills the space between aluminum and Phenolic parts of the knife. It was only used for a few of the early years and is no longer available.

I'm going to nit pic and say '63-'67. Just because Dave said '62-'66. But the last of the barrel nut went out in '63 and the tang stamp changed to BUCK* some time in '67. It's a beautiful knife and almost in display quality (I would put it in my display), if I collected 105s...

I would date it more to the side of the lower end numbers, '63 ish. I say this only because of the sheath. These sheaths were only used in the earlier knives and are difficult to find, especially in this quality...

It would be kind of you to post a group photo or two of the collection and I don't think that I'm the only one who would enjoy seeing your vintage cutlery. Thank you.

I have to lean toward the early end of the above age estimates, just going by the look of the knife and sheath.

I'd say Pre-65 at least.......probably earlier.

Nice knife......hope to see more of your stuff.

Yes, the barrel nut models left in May 1963 and models stamped Buck* are 67. So, mid 63-66 is a sure bet. DM

Here is a few to keep you guys interested. I don't have room in the small case my wife allows me to display in to show them all. Please enjoy.

Sorry you can't see all of the 121s (1964-1985) they are hiding behind the wooden center line. They are quite impressive.

Wow!!!

That's a real large nice herd of knives.

You'll have to post those 121s on the Sunday Show next week.

:)

Fort Knox & the Federal Reserve vault in NYC have nothing on you mbj. Real wealth. Not some esoteric legal tender nonsense. Uh uh. Real riches. Material goods. Love it. Thank you kindly for that vision of cutlery collection success. WTG.

Now, my friend, just how did you convince your significant other to put the china out in the garage? Never mind. We all have to deal with own versions of authority.
