Santa is going to deliver a Camillus Classic Cartridge Series No. 4 to my Uncle this Christmas.

He has been hunting with me since I was 13 (when I was allowed to start deer hunting). I've only known him to carry a .257 Roberts that was made by Hendershot back in the 60's or 70's. I've seen many fall at distance to his "Bob". He is still shooting reloads that my great uncle worked up in the 70's.

Anyhow, the CCC-4 is the .257 Roberts knife. I want Santa to include a print-out of the history of these knives. Does anyone have a link or a copy of the history of the Camillus Classic Cartridge Series of Knives? I'm looking more for a narrative summary.

Thanks for your time and any information that you may be able to provide,
Josh

Don't know too much, however, I did snag one of these fine two-bladed Banana Jacks back in 1994. Very nice pocket knife! If memory serves, they were a limited edition offering fashioned from 440A stainless.

The only reason I picked up the knife was that I had an old .257 at the time. It was a great rifle, and I lament the fact that I divested myself of it during a rough patch in my life. The brainchild of Ned Roberts had a very solid following for many a year, allowing great ballistics without the punishing recoil.

Should have held on to that firearm!

What is more confusing is there seems to be a Camillus Cartridge Series in addition to the Camillus Classic Cartridge Series. The .257 Roberts of the Camillus Classic Cartridge Series, for which I'm looking for a narrative detail is designated CCC-4. The slightly different named series, "Camillus Cartridge" (leaving out the "classic") seems to have had a camp knife as the 4th in the series with a 30-06 headstamp. This knife is designated as C-4 as opposed to CCC-4 for the "Bob".

I just found this:

Thanks for the feedback Stubai!!

From some old catalogs, it looks like the Camillus Cartridge series had jigged delrin and the Camillus Classic Cartridge had jigged bone.
