So i'm on a budget. I bought some 6x9 sony xplod speakers [300 watt] (4ways). I'm going to be buying some 4x6 sony 4ways (140 watt) for the front. I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand am SE2 and i'm just wondering how well they'll hold up to loudness (since my gf likes to crank the tunes).

Do you plan to add an amp? If not they are going to sound like crap. Personally I would stay away from Sony in the car audio department. They have actually done away with the Xplod stuff and trying to revamp their image by actually trying to make a good product.

You have lots of highs but not enough bass - I'd recommend:
2 Pioneer 6x9 Speakers
1 Pioneer 12" woofer
Alipne Deck
1 Small amp for the woofer. (400W)

i would stay away from the sony speakers s sound quality is crappy, pioneer is by far the best value (price vs sound quality vs spl)if you are going to turn your ride into a music box i would spend the extra money on the amps and wiring, it pays for its self in the long run. remember to look at the RMS on the speakers too. try to match these to your power source as close as possible.

pm if you would like a specific online store that has UNBEATABLE prices.

my set up cost me a few thousand dollars but the sound makes it worth it.

pioneer headunit
4 12" RE Audio subs
4 6.75' pioneer speakers
2 6x9' pioneer speakers
0/1 & 12 ga. streetwires

good luck to you bro.
