I just got a tube of steel from those Admiral folks incased in really thick cardboard and I need advice about how to get the d*mn thing open. Skillsaw? Order a knife made from some sort of crucible steel? I really like this part of BF.

I tell my students that there are no stupid questions only stupid people that ask them. Thank you for proving me right. You folks are great!

Unscrew them with what?

No don't answer. I have steel to make camp knives. fillet knives and and other stuff so I will bother you more.

Best wishes

Lynn

My last shipment came with wooden ends held in by 10's of 3/4" staples. My wife was laughing at me wrestling with this 6' long package with a prybar, clawhammer, and a pair of vicegrips. Then I had to bandsaw the cardboard into small enough chunks to throw away. The whole episode just seemed like way too much work, but it was pretty funny.

There is Congressional legislation pending to ban these tubes because of the way they open. :D

Mine always comes with the screws in it like Jerry mentioned. I did have one come in once with the ends so boogered up that I just sawed one end off with a hacksaw. That cardboard's mighty thick alright, but it "ain't no" match for a good hacksaw.

Don't destroy or throw the tubes away. They're tough as it gets for shipping knives in. I use sections of them all the time for sending blades to heat treat or shipping a knife to a customer.

I usualy cut the end off on the bandsaw.

thanks Michael, I've been using them to stoke the wood stove, but your segestion is better.
