Hey guys just picked this up at a flea market.. Did a little poking around on the tang stamp.. maybe 1905-20? I did not think these handles were around then (plastic).. I can usually find vintage knives online.. could not find this.. Is it right? Is it rare? any info on knife would be appreciated thanks!!

Lots of Case experts here who will help you on the mark. I don't think it's an XX tested so not likely to be as early as you are thinking. To me the celluloid (not really plastic, more like a bomb)))) looks right, a bit of shrinkage and the surface looks right to my eyes. Neat old knife. Here is a link to Case College http://www.wrcase.com/case_college/tang_stamps/
EDIT, looks like it could be the date you thought it was.
Best regards

I corrected my post to you. I think you're right about the date of that mark. Assuming the mark is right.

Best regards

Looks like the blade has been re stamped. Do not think this is the real deal from the pictures. Also looks like those are new pins in the handles. Looks to sloppy to be a real Bradford. Good Luck! Kevin

Lots of fakes out there. You would be surprised. Just looks like the letters are uneven to me but hard to tell in the pics. Kevin

The blade steel and handle shrinkage seems right from further research.. also some of the tang stamps on the auction sight look simaler .. i donoo lol

I would really have to see it in person but good luck! I have a Bradford that I got from a guy that had a brother who bought it back in 1920 and paid 98 cents for it new!!! :D Good Luck! Kevin

The CASE part of the mark seems a bit strange. Is the bottom of the C well above the bottom of the rest of the name? It looks higher in the picture. Also the top of the C is missing and the bottom of the s is missing. That is pretty hard to do if the mark is a one piece stamp which I assume was the case. I'd ask Bernard for a mark authentication It's under 20 bucks I think.

Best regards

It seems to me that there would be no profit in forging a knife and then selling it for $3. IMHO.

Thanks for all the comments guys.. im not into the old style knives that much.. im sure ill trade it off .. maybe at the next gun knife show i go to.. from the further research i have done scince the post .. and the guy i got it from was selling lots of old knives and lighters .. it was an estate clean out.. i feel pretty good about the knife. Ray

Ray, is your knife 5" or 4 1/4" in the closed position? Also...is there anything stamped on the opposite side?
