So, I when hanging an axe, a big problem for me is getting the head to turn the way I want it to. If you look at the picture, The head is off center (red line). Am I correct in my assumption, that if I wanted to straighten the head back out, I'd have to remove some wood from corners C and B?

Usually, but not always. It could be anywhere one one side or both. The trick is to visually see the points of contact between wood and steel. Look for marks of contact on the wood when you remove the head.

It can be tough at first but it becomes more intuitive. I'll still have some fitting frustrations once in a while. It's truly evil when you realize that it's the head- some are just weirdly off inside the eye which make fitting a true test.

Ok, thanks a lot, I hope my next attempt at hanging an axe will be less stressful. Sadly, I'll only be able to put theory into practice in about 3 months.
