I recently received an early Christmas present from my wonderful father, he surprised me with the amazing Delica Sprint Run in Damascus with the Red Jigged bone, I took one look at the knife and saw it was AMAZING and very well built, the lockup is super solid, blade is nicely centered, but I only have one tiny problem, it came with a very tiny hairline scratch on the blade. Being super picky, it kind of bugs me, does anyone know how I can get this tiny scratch out without damaging or ruining the blade at all? the blade is absolutely beautiful and the Damascus is very defined on it. I could live with it since its really hard to see and you can only see it under a light, but I would like to know if there is any options to get it out.

Thanks!

Are you going to use this knife? If so, don't worry about the scratch as you're sure to put a few more on the blade if you use it.

Can you provide a picture of the scratch? Unfortunately, production knives are prone to slight imperfections. Hard to say if it's nothing or if it is something that merits worry without pictures.

Here you go, sorry for the terrible pictures, hopefully you can see the tiny scratch. The only camera that I have with me at the moment is my IPhone, this is the only scratch or flaw on the blade, the other smudges are just my fingerprints. Let me know if i can do anything, thanks for the reply.

The only way to remove it would be to buff out or use a stone to grind the scratch out. However, this will also obscure the etching that gives Damascus its contrast. Your only real option is try exchanging it at the retailer it was purchased from but its a crapshoot if they will actually take the exchange it. Good luck though that's a shame

Thanks, it was the only one there unfortunately since it's a limited production model, I'm sure I can buff it out easily or something without effecting the Damascus pattern, I think it came from the factory like this unfortunately, the good news is the scratch isn't deep at all and you can only notice it under a bright light. Thank you for the reply. if anyone else knows of any other options (if there are any) please let me know.

I will suggest that you throw away that carbide scraper you have there. That does nothing to sharpen a knife. It scrapes away metal in a very crude and ineffective way.

If you buff it enough to remove the scratch you might have to refinish the whole blade of the knife and re-etch it. See if you can return it, and if not try asking in Shop Talk, someone will have an idea.
