Picked this up recently.

I like it, but will be trading or selling for another Seb I have my eye on. I would like to know what the date for this one is, as it came with no birth card and obvious custom work (by Ken Onion )

Couple differences Im noticing, are the detent hole going all the way through the lock bar...and the washers are not perforated. Maybe this will help date it?

Thanks for any help or info on this guy!

It was made in 2001 judging by the date stamp on the top photo. Probably later in the year as it has an S30 blade.

The slabs were made in the 2nd quarter of 01, it has a S30V blade and presuming that was not replaced-they started using S30V in Jan 02(according to nyefmaker history), so somewhere after Jan 2002. The only way to narrow it down further would be to ask Ken Onion if he remembered when he did the work.
Seems like a lot of makers fooled with these at one time or another, Mayo being the most recognized for his modifications.

Its 01. meaning 2001. S stamping also indicates S30v Which wasn't around in 91, but was around in the early 2000's. Why is there a machining mark on the Lock-bar area? I assume it was to machine the custom holes on the handles?

Pictures of the other side? It looks like some engraving on the lock side? Just curious what it says.

Thanks for the help guys! I assumed it was 91 or 01.

It has initials on it, no big deal.

Not 91, CRK started stamped the date code from 1997, definitely it is 2001. The Regular style Sebenza you shown was introduced in 1996, so 91 is impossible. I guess all the Sebenzas without date code before 1997, as I known the earliest date code on Sebenza is A97(1st quarter of 1997).
