I was recently looking through some of my grandfathers old hunting gear and found a knife. I posted pictures on the r/knives subreddit, and they pointed me to here, saying that you guys could probably help me. What I know is that it was made by the Imperial Knives Co of Providence R.I. sometime in the early to mid 1900s. Any help is appreciated.

Based on the tang stamp, it looks like it may have been made between 1936-1952. if someone is more knowledgeable can chime in.

Here is the tang stamp chart:

That's actually a really helpful chart. I took a closer look at the stamp, and now I realize that it has a really faded USA like on the ones from 1956-1988, though it doesn't have a crown over the i. Still, a very useful chart, thanks for the help!

The great thing about knives, is that unlike women;

They don't mind if you have more than one
They don't mind if you trade them
They can't cheat on you
They don't ask why you need so many, or another one
It's okay to beat them up
You can fondle them whenever you want

Most importantly, they don't talk.

However, they're still able to hurt you.
Losing one can be an emotional experience

quite the opposite,
its actually better to get one that that walks and talks.
nothing worst than a loose clapping knife.
