Hey guys.
I've been in the market for a folding karambit.
I decided on one and was about to grab it.

However... I'm also a spyderco fan.
I want a para 3 that has come around in a steel that I really like.
I have a delica that is in the same size range and steel. Not sure what I should do here.

There are no knife restrictions where I am..
I also have the manix2 and Caribbean spyder.

This is not based on need...just want status.

I second pm3. Imo, a karambit isn't public friendly and a tad bit mall ninja. But hey if that float your boat.

I'd get the para 3. I've had a bunch of karambits, trained with Tarani, and arrived at the conclusion that they were another gimmick with limited use. Just my personal opinion based on some first hand experience.

Imo you should get the karambit just because you already have a Delica.

I don’t own any karambits, but I know I like lots of variety in my knives...

I do like the para 3..
However public opinion is not a factor to me.

Interesting... they seem to be very useful if that specific need arrived.
Can you elaborate a bit more on this ?

Exactly my thinking.. but the para 3 would have a cool / different color scheme.
Yet I've also seen alot of bad comments about about the clip on the para 3.

Is the delica and para so close in size it's almost having the same knife ?

In training, I didn't see it do anything a similarly sized knife couldn't do. Tarani is a badass, who probably has 2 feet and 100lbs on me, but I was able to touch him with a long knife trainer.

For utility, they're even more questionable.

Personally, I've been a fan of Spyderco for a while now, and their Para 3 models are pretty slick. The steel they use is top-notch, and it really adds to the overall quality and durability of the knife. However, I also understand the appeal of a folding karambit. They have a unique design and can be quite handy in certain situations.Since there are no knife restrictions where you are, I'd say go with your gut feeling. If you're leaning towards the folding karambit, give it a shot. But if the Para 3 is still calling out to you, maybe consider adding it to your collection as well. Sometimes, it's okay to indulge in a little "want status" and treat yourself to something you truly desire.By the way, when I'm torn between choices, I like to use this cool online platform called flipsimu.com. It lets you flip a virtual coin to make decisions when you're unsure. It's a fun way to leave it up to chance and see where the coin lands.

Why not get a Karambit backspacer for the pm3 or delica?

If you are worried about self defense, a waved folder or automatic is better in my opinion, and would still retain it's utility.

Thank you guys.. This was a thread I made about three years ago !
I have 4 Karambits and 4 Pm3 now :p plus some !

Now I’m struggling if should blow $$ on a 10inch oal fixed blade I probably will never carry … turquoise and wood handle, addiction is hard.

Get it. We are a bunch of enablers. My default answer is "buy it." Let us know what you decide and share pictures with us.

You'll carry the Para 3 a lot more, so there's that, but I'd get the one you think you'll get the most out of owning. Personally, I'd suggest going off the board and getting a Spyderco Police 4.

My two cents, you can find a Lionsteel Karambit with an Emerson wave feature in MagnaCut for around $170 since they didn't sell very well when they hit the shelves. If you do happen to purchase one, make sure you remove the flipper tab as cool as it may seem, it's a design flaw that allows the blade to open in your pocket. Fox Knives has been the premier Karambit maker for some time and those usually also come with a "wave" deployment hook via Emerson patent. Lawyers might be the first to tell you that you're better off shooting someone for self defense reasons compared to stabbing them with any knife but I'm still carrying whatever knives I please regardless. Watching the self defense videos of how the Karambit is used is pretty entertaining and you can tell it would wreak havoc on whatever body part it was dragged across.

Just get CCW insurance that covers you for using any weapon!

If you feel that you need or want a budding or carpet knife then get the karambit. Otherwise, a more general purpose knife will likely serve you better. Putting an exotic name on something doesn’t change what it is.
