I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or experience with my problem.I have a Kodak Easy Share Zoom digital camera.Fairly new.No problems before, but now when I plug in the camera with the USB cord to the computer and turn on the camera, the program doesn't pop up and instantly transfer the picture. In fact the camera turns on and the lcd screen comes on.I reloaded the software, and I don't know what the problem may be.I can't get my pictures to download or get the program started.Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Does the camera have to be switched to "transfer" mode first? I remember my old Kodak DC5000 had to be switched to transfer mode first before the program could download pictures to my laptop. Please consult the manual and see if this is the case with your camera. I may be wrong, though.

No.You plug the USB cable into the camera and computer. Then you turn camera power on,automatically the program is supposed to open up to transfer pics automatically.Nothing happens when I did this today, and the camera came on ready to take pictures instead with the lcd screen powered up.Which when you normally have the USB plugged in and turn power on ,the lcd and zoom lens usually stay inactive and the transfer program comes up on the computer monitor. This isn't happening now,and I have not even been able to find anything useful from the Kodak website to see what's up with this.

If your PC has more than 1 USB port, have you tried plugging the cord into another USB port just in case the first one is inoperative? If you've determined that the USB port is functioning properly, please check that the Easy Share program is loaded in the background or foreground first before plugging in the camera.

Yep,tried two other ports, program window in the backround, every which way.I try to manually transfer, and a window comes up saying I cannot perform that function because the device is not connected. So I'm not sure if the USB cable which is only a couple months old is all of a sudden defective or if there is something with the camera USB port? I'm not sure what to think.

With the camera connected to your PC, do you see the camera as a removable device in Windows Explorer? I don't know if your camera is designed to do this, though. If it is, then you should see it in Explorer. If not, then there's probably a connection problem. Either way, I would explore the possibililty of a bad USB cable, as you mentioned as a possibility earlier.

I once had a camera which was very particular on how you installed it on the PC. If you connected the camera to the PC before you had installed the software you would get a similar problem to the one youre describing, the camera would be seen as a removable drive and the software wouldnt work. You had to install the software before the PC and camera were connected for it to work.
