Help with edc needed

Hi everyone, I'm Alex and I have a problem. I used to edc a nice traditional but the blade broke when I accidentaly dropped it on the ground, sucks because the company doesn't want to replace the knife.

No big deal but, I now have a problem on my hands (and no knife in my pocket). I have difficulty deciding when there's too much choice altogether. I know what I like, but not what to pick so I'd hope you guys and gals could help me find something suitable, I'd greatly appreciate it if you would.

Here's a list of what I really like/ or want in a pocket knife:
-I like thumbstuds, thumbholes or front flippers as an opening mechanism.
-I generally like most locks except axis-locks (I don't know why, I just don't like them and they just feel flimsy to me and I really dislike blade-play which has been plenty with every benchmade I ever held)
-I like blades from around 3 to 3,5 inches and I generally enjoy thinner bladestock to do foodprep and such.
-I have no need for auto's or assists plus they're illegal where I live
-I like a lot of blade shapes however two are always a dealbreaker to me: namely tantos or persian style blades. To me they just break the aesthetic of a knife and I generally prefer other blade shapes
-I like deep-carry clips although they aren't a necessity.
-My price-range sits broadly between 50 bucks all the way to 200 bucks.
-Finally, I have no need for serrations and dislike recurves as I sharpen a lot.

Thanks for reading or helping me out, feel free to leave suggestions or correct my grammar as much as you please (I don't speak English as my first language).

Check out the Spyderco Manix 2, its lock is similar to an Axis, but it isnt the same thing. The Spyderco Sage 5 is another of my favorites, but I think the blade might be a bit small for your liking.

Spyderco Endura FFG might be worth your consideration, about $80. No deep carry clip, though. I have the smaller version, the Delica. Good knife, good blade thickness for food prep. Back lock, VG-10 steel.

Since you want edc with some food prep, get a Spyderco Spydiechef.
Thumb hole, deep carry, Ti frame lock, a nice alloy with good geometry.

Eta: what about a fixed blade?

I agree with the others, get you a Spyderco that you like. I'd say pick up a LW Manix 2 in s110v, s90v, Maxamet, or CTS-XHP and you will be good to go!

I know what the ball bearing lock is and why it's more robust than the axis lock (coil spring against omega spring) haha, and I'm definitly considering the manix as an edc. Thanks for your reply!

I think for my life the normal manix might be the better choice, although I'm considering a lightweight in xhp. I'm not the best at sharpening, however xhp I can handle, but s110v or s90v seems a little too hard for my skill! Thanks for the suggestions though!

Check out some of the Protech manual openers with thumbstud. Great quality knives at the upper end of your budget and awesome CS ;)

I already have a nice bushcraft blade I highly recommend (enzo trapper in elmax) but I can't carry that on the street according to my laws.

Sounds like you might enjoy the Boker Exskelibur I titanium framelock. Normally I don’t love boker but this one knife is possibly the best edc knife I have ever owned. Just make sure you get the Exskelibur ONE titanium framelock with titanium front scale.

Front flipper, super thin blade perfect for edc. Screws are quite soft though so this is a knife you treat like a Delica. Do not disassemble. Just move the clip to tip up if you want and leave the screws alone after that. Still imho there is no better edc knife.

Not too expensive. Thinnest Ti framelock

Check out how thin it is compared to a large Sebenza.

Be sure to check out the Real Steel G5 metamorph for another awesome front flipper

I think protech is good, but not for me. As I like to disassemble my knives for maintenance and just the technical aspect of it, thanks for the reccomendation though!

The Spyderco Sage series has all of the elements you listed (thumb hole opener, 3" blade, deep carry, many lock types, thin blade stock, manual, leaf-shape blade, between $50-200, plain edge) and would be an excellent choice.

At the cost of deep carry, you could also look into the Paramilitary 3.

Other good options: Zero Tolerance 0450, Spyderco Silverax, Spyderco Manix, Kizer Spliter or any of the Kizer Vanguard knives, Steel Will Modus / Cutjack, Lionsteel SR2... There are a number of good options out there.

I'd close in saying that it's hard to go wrong with Spyderco. The vast majority of their knives are built for cutting performance, and most would be excellent for food prep.

Curious why you feel the company should replace the blade?
Was it defective?
It was already cracking a bit before I dropped it. But hey it was cheap so I kinda take it back, I can't expect them to replace a knife blade at 25 bucks. The quality control however kinda sucked because of the cracking and some crud in the spring.

I think I really like Spyderco and for that reason I might go for a manix lightweight of some variety or an endura in zdp-189 or maybe one of the sages. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Hmmm, that boker might be calling my name, I truly love the front flipper and maybe I might have a look at the feist (although a tad small) when they fix it's issues.

It seems like an awesome knife, however it might be in the price range that I'm not comfortable carrying anymore. My carry-cost-comfort curve seems very steep when compared to other knife enthusiasts.
