Help with Emerson Horseman.. Blade ruined?

I recently got a worksharp system, and I attempted (poorly) to put a symmetrical convex grind on my horseman. I can't for the life of me seem to get it sharp (or even to a workable edge) and I seem to have put a slight recurve on it.. Is the blade ruined or is there hope for salvaging it? I realize I'm an idiot, so posts along those lines aren't really required.. Thanks in advance for any help on my current situation.

It can always be fixed, mind posting a pic? Unless you used the blade up you just need a little more practice. :) What angle are you sharpening at?

It's with the worksharp. and considering the chisel grind was at 35 degrees or so, I sharpened each edge to 25 degrees on the worksharp. I'm really not quite understanding why it won't cut at all. It seems to not get a burr when I'm sharpening at 25.. So is it possible that 25 is still too thin for the prior 35 degree angle, and the belt isn't even touching the cutting edge?

It's hard to tell without seeing it in person. Do the most basic sharpie test and see what you find. To be honest, on my emersons I destroy the factory edge then make a new one.

I'm a little broke as of now lol. Can't afford the grinder (not sure about the wheels even) Do you think Emerson might be willing to use their warranty for this? I got a good edge on it but it seems to have a slight recurve, at this point I'm not sure if i'd want to send it in but it's always a possibility if the warranty covers it.

I don't think you're gonna have much luck getting your goof fixed under warranty. Unless you burned the temper out of the blade, it's fixable. Just take it back to the drawing board. Try practicing with a cheaper knife.

I actually think I recovered the problem lol. the black coating wore unevenly and I'm kinda contemplating ways of removing it safely just from the bevel on the grind (not near the top) Idk.

After a long session of attempting to fix it I got it workable. But I'm located in Michigan. And I was careful not to mess with the tempering. the one side is still a bit higher of an angle than the other, and i can't seem to get the original chisel edge to fully work itself into a V grind. If I could get it just a bit sharper I'd be happy with it
