I'm not really a huge Bali fan (probably cause I'm clumsy and can't do any of the tricks)but was recently given an interesting Filipine handmade by a friend. I don't have access to a scanner/camera but will try and describe it.

Blade is 3 1/2 inch clip bowie with a notch cut in to the spine that looks suspiciously like a bottle opener in front of the 'notch' are 3 filework groves and in front of the grooves are 3 small rounded notches. Also just under the grooves it has 3 beveled holes about 1/2 inch O.D. thry the blade.

Handles are solid brass squared U shaped with solid brass scales pinned to them with what looks like flush copper pins. There is a 1 7/8 inch inlay of a royal blue stone/plastic inlet in to the scales and held in place by a strip of filework brass with the same copper pins. The latch has 3 dots of the same blue stone/plastic inlet with 3 diagonal filework lines between each dot.

There is some corrosion build up from the brass on the blade near the pivot pins, but I don't really want to attepmt to take it apart to clean it for fear of damaging it.

I have no idea if its worth $5 or $500 or if I should just toss it. About the only Bali I've ever been interested in is the blue BM42 and that would have to be an 'at home toy' like my MT's here in the PRK

Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide!!

Sounds like the typical 23cm FHM balisong with the "rambo" blade profile. I've never seen 'royal blue stone' inlays on any FHM; I'm curious to what it looks like.

I wouldn't toss it out. Since this sounds like the average FHM, you probably wouldn't get too much for it - Although you may be able to sell it to someone with less knowledge of balisongs for more than it's worth. Either way, I still wouldn't throw it out.

A pic would help.

They can be buffed out! Brass is easy and soft. Email me!

Kent is right, it's what they call back there in batangas as the "rambo" blade. Although i think that the royal blue insert is not made of stone but plastic. Those are the typical balisong tourist knives available anywhere in the philippines which comes in different colors.
