I am looking for a neck knife to buy. I've looked at and considered buying a boker Bud Nealy Speciallist II but after seeing one at a knife show I didn't like the big square sheath. Does anyone make a more profiled sheath? I saw someone in the crowd at the show with one but before I could get to him to ask him about it he pissadeared, I mean disappeared. I don't particularly care for the Cold Steel knives because of their small size. I like the Speciallist size of knife better. I have a Stiff Kiss but again I don't like the sheath. Any suggestions?

I would also recommend the REKAT Fang or utility, or for a real bargain in the same size blade, check out the Newt Livesay WOO.

"Always just one knife short of perfection!"

Neil Blackwood, Lynn Griffith, Ray Kirk or Rekat would all be good choices.

Get ahold of the Jones Brothers. Barry & Phillip make a fantastic little neck knife. So good in fact that my father-in-law stole mine and I had to buy another. Barry wathches the forums so he shouldn't be hard to find.

Thanks for mentioning me guys, I appreciate that!
My goal has been to cover as many bases as possible with my neck knife offerings. They range form straight forward utility to self defense to some radical looking creations that are just...... DIFFERENT!

Thanks guys for the help. Now how would I find some of these makers you've mentioned. I found Livesay & Rekat so far.

If you have time and extra money to spend on a quality item, not that the others are not up to the task...try taking a peak at Lynn Griffith's work.

I just ordered a Patrolman and can't wait until I am able to save enough money to purchase one of his bigger pieces!

Take a close look at Fred Carter's Guardian. (Gigand kinves)
OAL- 8 1/2" in sheath
MAX width of sheath- 1 1/9"
4 1/4" clip or tanto tip
handle- 4"
handle width- 3/8"
The knife is held in place by magnets in the sheath. It's very fast on the draw stroke. I like the clip point because it seems to be more usable than the tanto and it comes with a 3 1/4" false edge that can be easily sharpened if desired.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm mulling over all of the info now and hopefully will make an intelligent decision. (I can't believe I just said that) What is the reputation of the Boyer knives? I tripped over his web while surfing.

Sagebrush, I too have a CRKT Stiff Kiss and I also didn't care for the sheath. I remedied that by taking the Dremel to it and cutting the wings off of it and generally streamlined the shape. Now I have a very low profile sheath that works great at using the SK as a neck knife. Mark / FL

RJ Martins Handyman is tops in my book. Lightweight, flat with a minimal neck sheath that doubles as a belt sheath via a removable belt clip. Micarta (or G10) scales, deep finger choil, thong hole, dropped handle and a slight recurved D2 blade for more instinctive pointing. It is an excellent working knife without the "hi- tech" threatening appearance. Weight is less than 4 ozs with sheath.

mking - I thought about trimming the sheath back also but didn't know if it would come about or separate at the seams. Any problem with this?
