Ok

I got a buddy asking about this blade. Found in his gradmothers basement as a kit. Blade, ground, not sharpened. Hardwood handle scales, uninstalled and unshaped, leather sheath. Leather and wood deteriorated beyond repair. No original packaging. Blade shape and primary grind and handle shape are orig.

No specs. Blade, handle length, stock thickness. Apologies

When asked where from, grandmother said purchased for her son (buddies farther) between '50-'60, maybe. Thought a Boy Scout kit, or..perhaps a catalog, or..? She could not recall.

Friend not really looking for value, just a curiosity on where this kit may have come from.

Any help or insight on what this might be would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

1. I'm an idiot who doesn't proclaim to have much knife history knowledge which I why of course I'm replying to this post.

2. It screams non-production to me. No marks of any kind. Thickness of the handle slabs are mismatched. I'll guess home made from a ... saw blade or leaf spring. ?

3. Plus note first 3 words of #1.

Someone put some time and effort into it. Nice find.

Thanks for the reply gazz98 gazz98 .

I should have been more clear. It was found by my friend about 15-20 yrs ago in what appeared to "kit" form. As stated the orig. handle slabs were not attached or shaped, nor was the blade sharpened. Said friend discarded the orig. intended scales, too far gone from damage and fixed his own, (14-15yrs old at time) homemade scales. Plastic dipped..Sheath pictured is a homemade, pounded/painted metal sheath. Leather sheath had come with kit..just was very mold/rot damaged

Grandmother is sure it was as "kit" form..just cannot confirm source of purchase..

Thanks again

Thank you again, gazz98 gazz98 .

And, I did forget about that sub. I'll let this thread fall off. That sub is where this belongs..Ill ask a model to move.
