First things first, I know this may not be an HI khukri and I know the pics arent the best, so please forgive me in advance.

I was given this blade(my first khukri) sans sheath yesterday. Does anyone know anything about it? How about a sheath, any suggestions as to how to get a new one?

Thanks in advance,

Berdar

It should be noted that, despite what Windless implies, Shortwinger is correct. They have been made for the UK and Indian governments by many companies - large and small. Quality varies considerably, some being notably soft.

It might fit in one of the nylon and plastic sheaths made for kukri-like-objects sold by American companies, but I would prefer to try the fit out before buying.

I think the Windless Steelcraft's kukri is supposedly the issue of the Indian Army, or at least part of it. In Nepal they use different models, in fact each of these three units (the Gurkhas, Police and Nepalese Army) all have a different model issued.

If you do have one of the Windless Steelcrafts then you have a nice military kukri. Find a downed hardwood tree about 4 or 5 inches in diameter and chop it up. If the blade comes out of that with no damage then it is probably a Windless. If it chips or rolls (or breaks) then you probably have a tourist copy of the Windless.

You can contact Windless and see if they have extra sheaths for that model.

I have a Windless. First khuk I bought. It is dead soft. I figured buying a junk khuk is a right of passage. Maybe they are better these days.

Can any of you with this style of a khukuri and a Kami Medical Fund sheath tell us if the sheath fits this style well?
