I have a knife that looks like the Magnum but it is marked simply " GERBER " on the bottom side of the handle with what appears to possibly have a dagger design next to it. The handle is grey and rough.but does not have any colored coating on it like the Magnum's do. The blade is thick and polished . It measures 11" in total length. I am trying to find out what it is and the time of manufacturing. I was wondering if anyone could help identifying it and the year it was made

Blessings,
Lucy

If it doesn't, post a picture of it. It will be a lot easier to determine what it is.

It is different than the two you posted. I don't have permissions yet to post photos cause I am new to the site and haven't made a contribution to the site yet.
It looks like the one posted on this thread

except the handle is a dull grey and rough lke the one you posted above on the bottom

I posted photos and I'm not a paying member either - Just upload your photo to an image hosting site like photobucket or imageshack. Free and easy.

You can open a free account at Photobucket or one of the other hosting sites, upload your photos there, then copy the IMG tagged code they provide and paste it into your post here to add photos without being a paying member. Heck, that's how I do it, and I am a paying member.

It sounds like you have the Armorhide version of that knife. I used to sell those when I was in high school back around 1975, so I'd put it around early to mid 70's manufacture.

Thank You.. I saw it in with all the kitchen utensils and thought " WOW Thats cool. " so I bought it. It turned out to be a great 50 cent investment .. LOL

That goes way beyond nice score. If I remember right, those sold for around $70 back in '75, when I was making $2.10 an hour.
