Hi all! I was referred here by a friend of mine who knows more about knives than I know about anything. My wife and I were cleaning out her father's garage this weekend and we came upon a nifty looking knife. After doing a little research, I think it might be either a Buck 110 or 112, there's no marking on the blade though and there's a little roll in the edge of the blade so I'm thinking it might be a knockoff or something, but it's still a sharp looking knife so I was thinking of prettying it up for her. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I don't see any tang stamp, so it must be a knock off. Does it have any markings anywhere? If not you can still clean it up with a wire brush (blade only) and some polish.

The Buck 110 is likely the most copied knife in the world. Schrade, Camillus, Utica, Puma, and many other knife companies all made versions. But Buck and the mainline knife companies all stamped their name on the blade. I think your guess of "no-name knockoff" is correct. There were and are plenty of those, as well.

I don't see any markings at all, I'll sit down with a brush and try to get some of the rust off. I was thinking that there might've been a Made In China or something similar stamp underneath but I don't see anything. It's still a pretty well built knife (dispite the weirdly soft steel) so I think I'm going to try and clean it up. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't wrecking some priceless artifact
