Hello there,

I'm new to this forum, but my fondness for edged tools is not. I was given this axe a couple years ago and it has been in my shed since. I recently pulled it out and was looking over it and I began to wonder how old it was.

The head has PLUMB stamped on it and the handle has the words Official Scout Axe on it with raised letters. The handle appears to have had red paint on it. A quick google search returns about a million results for the BSA Official Scout Hatchet, but nothing on a boys axe. Any information about this axe would be appreciated.

Looks like BSA #1510 Pack Axe, 2-1/4 pound head, from approx. 1963-1974

(according to Alocksly's book, below)

My book says Plumb. Both mine look like yours, though one was rehung and held to the grinder by the previous owner.
