That is quite a knife Brady. I'm lost for words. Odd position for a punch.

The Schrade Walden NY stamp usually means it is the oldest of the Walden stamps.

lost for words!! wth!!---just kidding hal!! beats me too, i think ill look up my papers when i bought this one on the bay 2-3 years ago and see if the seller had any info i forgot about----not very happy with the pics--may post better ones---thanks hal------------brady

Well, not completely lost for words... :D

I think the stamp minus USA is early Walden, like maybe 1947 to 1950. I do not believe I've seen one like it before. Any chance that is Wonda Wood?

Very unusual Brady! nice knife though and I love the backspring liner.

:thumbup:thanks hal and rusty, i found the ebay printout when i won both of these in the same auction as a pair in feb 06 for 26$ including shipping!;)
the seller described the wood as some sort of composite that gave a wood appearance----i beleive he was right----it has a wood appearance with grain but feels and looks manmade to me and harder than real wood. could this be wondawood? ive never had or looked at wondawood before.
i had forgot about the stamp not having usa on it till i took the pics yesterday. thanks for the time frame data----------brady

I wonder if perhaps it's a re-handle?

It appears that Schrade Walden had a Sportster long before Harley did! :D

---------------your one of a kind dale----brady

Excellent sleuthing Dale! I've never seen one of those before, never even new they existed. That's a great find Brady, I'd have likely passed it up in my ignorance:o:thumbup:

Very interesting knife. I have a Ka-Bar "Kamp Knife" that looks quite similar. Supposedly phenolic handle from the late 30's to early 40's. Almost the same color handle, rivets, main blade is a spear point, next to the main blade is one of the old blade like can openers with the stud on the side and a cap lifter. On the other end is just a screw driver and an awl, with a bail on that end. No shield or writing on the handle but I have seen one with "Kamp Knife" engraved in the handle. When i first looked at your photos I thought it was a Ka-Bar until I got mine out, still the same type style. Thanks, John.

If it doesn't fit with the rest of your collection, I'm sure I can place the little orphan in a good home. Great looking little knife:thumbup::)

Tom

thanks for the input john, very interesting, would love to see a pic of it. bgass@hotmail.com

tom, its already snuggled back in position with its cousins but thanks:thumbup:

Say, I think we need to see a shot of that WHOLE display case, looks like there's some mighty fine knifeage in there;)

Eric

;)well ok eric you twisted my arm:o:o:D
the big case i made out of a wood tv cabinet bezel out of a motorhome. it has a mix of 1/2 schrades and 1/2 "other". the old schrade case has about the same mix. one of my winter time projects was to re-organize these two get all the schrades in the schrade case and others in the homemade one.
i like to also collect factory schrade cases/displays. i have 10 schrade displays, i prefer the 22 x 14 picture frame / countertop style such as the 2nd pic.
the 2 little baby barlows in the 2nd pic and the scc candy stripe in the 1st pic came from "the wall" collection. i believe they were part of hermans collection.----------------------brady
