HELP

When doing this type of handle on a knife what do you suggest.

Soak the material in epoxy prior to applying to the handle?

Put the wrap on the handle and then "paint" on the epoxy?

Do you use epoxy or some other kind of adhesive/sealer?

any advice gratefully received...

thanks

I painted it on using a flux brush that I'd trimmed the bristles to make them stiffer. I used regular long cure epoxy, not thinned. Don't use too much, try to stick to one coat.

I've used super glue and it OK. Soaks in easily. Strong fumes though. I had to put on my respirater.

I make a knife I call a Magic Knot Knife. It has a small wrapped section. before I made the first one, I wrapped a couple pieces of the wrap that I use around a paint stir stick and coated oen wrap with superglue, and oen with epozy. I liked the superglue better. You may want to try this with your wrap too. Just wrap a paint stick and practice putting on epoxy.

I always paint the sealer on after the handle is wrapped. Not as messy this way;) .

Super glue can turn white on the cord and it is a pain to fix.

I go to a hardware store and buy 2part table top sealer. The kind that is used on bartops. You can mix however much you need and paint it onto the cord. Don't put on a second coat after the first has dried. It looks awful:barf:
