Hi All,

Couple years ago I've tried to make a list of known (at that time) HI Kami markings or logos. I've had quite a few kukris myself( pix and reviews) and local kukri fans helped a lot.

The result was this small gallery.

I'd like to update that, if you guys have anything that's not there, can you please provide closeup of the kami logo so I can keep it up to date?

I forgot to post email.

If you need to send large picture, and it's better if I have bigger pix for digital processing then please use:
kamis at zvis dot com email address.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks a bunch for moving it.

I found a H.I Khukuri Sirupati 18 inche long. It has the U.B marking on one side and on the other near the brass bolster. There are two distinct marks.

The first mark is a round circle with 4 equal signs " = " approaching the circle from four different sides .

The second mark appears to be a TRIDENT symbol

Does any one what Kami made this particular Sirupati 18"

Well, this is a closeup of my Khuk, it was made by Sher kami before 2002, so this is his old mark (full sun). I didnt bother to strip the koji oil on it, so there are flecks.

hope this helps some!

It sure does, Misanthropic. The BAS I recently sharked on Valetine's Day has these markings, though it was listed as a Bura blade, leading me on a fun linguistic adventure trying to read Devanagari and learning a lot (compared to knowing nothing, anyway) about the workings of that family of writing systems.

The Devanagari page is nice:

and this has some useful comments on the differences between an abugida (e.g. Devanagari) and a syllabary (e.g. systems used by Greeks before the alphabet, and examples of which are still visible in the form of ancient graffiti on Egyptian landmarks that were the "tourist traps" for ancient Greeks back in the day):

haven't seen this one listed: (from 20" pre "U.B." marked kobra)

Shankar Kumar Bishwakarma

Brent, can you take a pic of that ?
Thanks Misantrop and kronckew, I'll try to add that tomorrow.

kronckew, so it's HI Kumar's logo, correct?

shankar is NOT kumar (tho 'kumar' does seem to be his middle name).

bishwakarma is the name of the god of the kami's, and is a common last name, i think of it as translating to 'smith' - (possibly designates their caste as kami's?).

kumar is another common name, so i think of HI's kumar as 'John Smith', shankar (another common name) is thus 'Joe John Smith' :D

i believe kumar's sign is a six pointed star (aka mogen david ;) )

This is going to be a handy resource... I think the next time I get the chance, I'll take a gander and see which kamis made all of my blades.

I've added my email to the original post.
for kami logo images please use:

kamis at zvis dot com

Also, if you have bigger pictures(which you dont' want to post here) of the logos that's better for me, so feel free to email them :)
Thanks again to everyone.

I'll post first updates today, once I am done with my car radiator...

Ok, new icons uploaded. You might need to refresh browser cache to see the new images.
One unidentified, so far, I'll post later on. I'll upload individual pix to the gallery little bit later.

Update - added missing Sher logo posted here.
Uploaded cleaned up (whatever I could) images to the gallery.
