Made from parts ?
Legit ?
Circa ?
By who ?

I do not wish to sell this as legit when it's not.

Looking for a while I have seen no jacks with a main blade like that. If it is a re do,it was really nicely put together. If anyone knows of,or has seen a knife like this in any old catalogues please let me know Thank you for any & all help,-Vince

Vince,
To me, the thickness of the covers and bolsters are a giveaway that this is likely not a knife made in the 40's. Is the shield as crooked as it looks in the photos?.

Mark it is a little off, digital photography always makes it look magnified. I've seen plenty older knives with crooked shields. I've even seen a genuine ,old & large jack with a shield that was over laid & only pinned in the middle, that actually could be" spun" ( it moved) The spun main spring pin ,I've seen them on knives later than 1940 but all were clean with not excess material " mashed" down. Thanks for you input & help.

Nice Knife looks ok to me.

So show me an example of the knife in a catalog. ;)

Whenever bolsters are resurfaced, it should be concerning. I haven't made up my mind about the knife but I'm curious how you came up with your conclusion.

On the last photo you can see the front pin clearly, which is an obvious sign that someone either to dealt with blade play or ..... rebuilt the knife.
I had few KK knives in the past, the pins were either spun or hammered but combination of it. The EC Simmons I had had all hammered pins. I had an EO EC Simmons that had similar jigging but not that crisp.
Not sure what to think, but I am tending towards rebuilt.

Boy, that knife just seems to have a lot going on with it. Just doesn't look "right" to me. Of course, it could just be from looking at too many that are well used, compared to one that doesn't appear to be. Here are my observations:

Visible pivot pin on a knife that appears to be mostly unused (except for blades).

The slag on the brass spring pin doesn't bother me too much, but seems a little out of place.

The blades seem to have use on them, and have been cleaned, the lines are not crisp like I would expect. However, I don't think the clean lines and crispiness of the KK stamp are consistent with what I am used to seeing with a used blade, especially on a KK, where it seems the KK stamp gets worn down before anything else.

I have seen jigging that eats in the bolsters like shown, so I don't know if that is a sign of anything. The bone looks almost unused, which is not consistent with knife blades that have been used, as the knife would probably be getting scratched from swimming in your pocket with your keys and change.

Funny, the pictures you showed almost look like 2 different knives. At times the bone looks flat sanded in spots, and in other pictures, it has more height on the jigging. Now I'm all confused...

Anyway, I'm not a fan of the knife, and it could be totally legit, and it looks great, it just doesn't read well to my eyes.

The only thing I can tell you about that knife is that the clip blade is AWESOME, absolutely AWESOME!!!!

Thanks for the responses in both threads on this . It would've been nice to see or hear of some sort of sighting, recollection, catalogue pic etc. to ID it for a little better conclusion. I guess for now it'll remain mysterious, lol
