Help with Kershaw liner-locks?

Hey guys. I recently purchased a kershaw damascus double cross, and it was completely beautiful, until the one blade developed a good sized groove where it rides on the ball bearing in the liner lock on opening. It used to open smooth as glass; now it kinda feels like grinding molars when I open it. It's only a day old. Has anyone else had a similar problem with the liner locks? Is this a simple white lithium grease fix?

I've had the same issue with other folding knives. I now disassemble and clean every new knife and use Tri-Flow oil to lube the pivots before sharpening or carrying. I've found that it also does a good job of lubricating the ball bearing of the liner lock where it rides on the blade.

For maintenance, I open the blade just enough to have the dimple in the blade visible between the frame and lock. Then I use the fine straw that comes with the Tri-Flow bottle to put a tiny drop of lube into the dimple and in the pivot on either side of the blade. Very little is required, and less makes for no mess. Closing and opening the blade a few times will distribute the lube through the pivot and along the groove that has been worn into the blade, making for glassy smooth operation.

HTH,
Dave

TIDave offers some good advice. And FYI, the Kershaw Double Cross is not Damascus. Layers of 420 over a VG-1 core.
