Ok i was going to buy Wilkins grips for my Mini Ritter but moore is sold out and wilkins wants $140 i really love my mini ritter and being able to fit all 4 fingers on it would be awesome but...im having trouble justifying the cost just for grips. I love the s30v on the ritter and new grips would probably make it the perfect EDC but....

I can buy a new knife for that price. That being said im trying to decide between a BM model 907D2 Mini Nitrous Stryker spear point plain or a BM model 707 Sequel plain edge

I own a full Size Nitrous stryker and love it but its a hair too big for EDC thought the mini might be perfect and i hear good things about the Sequel.. if you have another suggestion please let me know (no spydercos i own too many already)
so give me your opinions people :)

so no opinions? any other knife choices? or just bite the bullet and buy grips for the Mini Ritter grip?

Have you considered the Bone Collectors from BM? You get some nicely milled G-10 grips, and some very good D2 steel. I have a large model with the green/black G-10 and think this series, Bone Collector, is a hidden gem!:)

I have looked at them and while its a great knife i dont think its for me ... Like the barrage its quite meaty in the handle and i prefer a slimmer in the pocket profile thats why i was looking at those 2 knives around 3in blade and slim profile in the pocket .. thats why i am considering the wilkins grips they make your 4th finger fit on the mini ritter and it slims the knife a little just not sure 140 is worth it ... its frustrating because if the ritter had a handle like the nitrous stryker id be completely in love

Here are my thoughts on your dilema, now keep in mind that I like the mini-grip handles and can get a comfortable 4-finger grip on it.

I wouldn't spend $140 on wilkinsgrips.

Seems you want to stay under 3" and still have a comfortable handle for large hands. My thoughts on the knives you mentioned and other Benchmade suggestion are:

707- while handle shape might work better keep in mind that it's also thinner than the mini-grip.

705- This one is discontinued but it isn't that hard to track on down. This has essentially the same shape handle as the 707, but it's thicker and has decent G10
handles.

The full size Ritter has a decent sized blade but it take up a lot of pocket real estate.

Nitrous-The liner lock and tip-down only carry kinda kill this one for me.

On of my favorite blades is the 930 Kulgera. It has a surprisingly long blade for it's size and carries extremely well (thin and lightweight). This one is also discontinued but a lot of online retailers still have them in stock.

I thought of something else, how about putting a lanyard on the mini-Ritter? This would give your pinky something to grasp.

I can still return my mini ritter and was on the fence about getting the full size.. im not so much about keeping it under 3 in 3.5 ish is fine i carried a full size stryker and emerson CQC7 maybe i should just get a full sized Ritter grip and call it a day... and then use the grip money on another knife

i like my full sized nitrous but as you posted the no clip option sucks.. i really just want a nice EDC i even considered a emerson horseman mini cqc 8 blade shape is sweet!

so sounds like i should return the mini ritter and get a full size and i will still have money for another knife ..maybe the emerson horseman stonewash (just really love the look)
BTW Knifecenter is doing it for $134 pre order $60 off retail thats a steal

it is a good idea but since i still have a few days to return for a fullsize im thinking i should get the Full size ritter grip and just maybe buy another knife i like with the money was gonna spend on wilkins grips

i am thinking a full size ritter grip and a stonewash emerson horseman would be all the EDC i would ever need

/bump so im 99% sure im going to mail back the mini ritter and get a full size... anyone think this is a good idea? i wouldnt mind another 1/2 in on the blade and a bigger handle i think

Like you saw in the other thread, I love my full size. Custom scales are "worth" the money though. Easily twice the knife with the new scales.

i'm also leaning towards getting the BM mini stryker but i read and saw some reviews stating that the D2 blade came not as sharp as you would expect it to be considering its a BM. and they also say that the D2 is a bit hard to sharpen. any truth to this?

If I had $140 to spend for a smaller EDC and didn't want a Spyderco, I would get a Benchmade 940 or 943. It's a "little big knife". The blade is >3" but it carries and handles like a 2.5" knife---really amazing. Plus, the 943 is surprisingly innocuous and refined looking for a knife that you might be using in public.

well D2 is a common tool steel its actually easier to sharpen (if im correct) than s30v to my knowledge D2 is a very good steel and handles well in hard use environments .. i own many knives in both D2 and S30v both are great my personal preference is s30v but the only stryker that comes in that is the gold class which is $500 ... D2 is fine

I think there are two really good options available to you. A gold class griptillian which uses some carbon supersteel, as I recall, and a 3d carbon fiber handle...I think they go for around $300. I'd have bought one if it weren't for the black blade.

The other option, as someone has already mentioned, is to get some custom scales made--I believe it'd be less than wilkins (surprisingly). Carbon fibre, titanium, woods...whatever floats your boat.

Oh, one more option: the 960 red

If it doesn't have to be a Benchmade I'd take a look at the Kershaw R.A.M. Great knife and carries great.

i own a ram already and a benchmade osbourne both excellent knives.. since i have some extra cash i am going with a full size ritter grip and some custom scales from cuscadi the pics on the cuscadi site sold me
